Certificate IV in Aromatherapy
The College is delighted to offer nationally recognised training in aromatherapy. We now have the Certificate IV in Aromatherapy (HLT42707) on our scope of delivery.
This qualification covers the skills needed to be a basic level aromatherapist. It provides basic skills in aromatherapy health assessment and treatment and may be used by those working in:
- a clinic, aged care facility, a health service or a spa facility giving basic aromatherapy treatment
- manufacturing of aromatherapy products
- retail of aromatherapy products.
At this level an aromatherapist can only formulate applications within a relaxation framework. A person at this level is expected to have a basic knowledge of a limited range (minimum of 20) of oils. A person with this qualification may or may not use massage as a method of application.
This qualification assumes employment either by another practitioner or within a larger health service e.g. aged care service or hospital. It does not offer the level of skill required for independent practice.
Duration: 9 - 12 months full time

Award: Successful students are awarded a Certificate IV in Aromatherapy.
For students studying, or who have already gained, the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice, you will note that there these 2 qualifications share many units of competency. The aromatherapy units in the Certificate IV in Aromatherapy are packaged by the College into 2 training modules, Aromatherapy Theory and Aromatherapy Practical. This means that people with a Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice, can train in these 2 aromatherapy modules, be given credit for the units common to both qualifications, and gain another Certificate IV that complements massage therapy beautifully.
